I am concerned about the number of doctors who believe that women over 60 no longer need their ovaries. I do not believe that we were born with body parts that are expendable. When I was young the prevailing view was that we did not need our appendixes or our tonsils. So many children had tonselectomies in those days that it was considered completely normal. Same for appendectomies. But now the powers that be have declared this a mistake.
How are we to know that in a few years we won't be chided for letting go of our ovaries? Already there are multiple studies saying that women are better off keeping their ovaries while they are young. The incidence of Parkinson's Disease is increased 50% for those women who had their ovaries removed when they were under 45. Even losing one ovary was found to increase their chances of getting PD.
And death overtakes women earlier no matter from what cause if they have given up their ovaries. The Nurses Health Study showed that one additional death would be expected for every 9 oophorectomies performed if a 35 year life span after surgery was expected. Keeping my ovaries
I want to see if there is anyone out there besides myself who thinks we need to keep our ovaries as long as we live.
